Access to Education: Giving Children and Adults a Future

Access to education is a priority for the future of people in developing countries. That is why the association has committed to building and equipping schools in Burkina Faso.

In Clermont-Ferrand, it has also organized support classes in French and mathematics for migrants who have recently arrived in France.

Why is Education Crucial in Burkina Faso?

In Burkina Faso, access to education remains a major challenge:

– Literacy rate: Only 36% of adults can read and write (source: World Bank, 2023).

– School dropout: 1 child in 3 leaves school before finishing primary school, often to help their family or because schools are too far away.

– Lack of infrastructure: In rural areas, 40% of schools have no access to drinking water, and 30% lack toilets, which discourages school attendance, especially for girls.

– Shortage of supplies: 1 student in 5 lacks basic school supplies (notebooks, pens, textbooks).

Our conviction: Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. By giving children and adults access to quality education, we give them the tools to:

– Find employment and support themselves.

– Improve their health (educated mothers have healthier children).

– Take part in the development of their community.

How We Take Action

Building and Equipping

The association is committed to building and equipping schools and supports the sponsorship programs of the Alliance Missionnaire Internationale. The association has organized collections of the equipment and supplies needed for the schools in Kiendsom and Doudou to run properly.

Lighting the Way to Study

To allow the children of Kiendsom school and their secondary-school classmates to do their homework in the evening, the association equipped the classroom buildings with solar panels that provide a daily power supply. This initiative also made it possible to set up an evening literacy class for adults.

Watching Over the Health of Schoolchildren

During each medical mission, the association’s doctors offer consultations to sick children from the Doudou and Kiendsom schools.

The association has also funded the installation of UN-standard latrines to improve hygiene for the children.

Supporting Schooling

In partnership with the Alliance Missionnaire Internationale and the association Champ de Boaz, the association offers its donors the opportunity to sponsor children.

Our Projects

Every Les Eaux Vives project is born from a need identified on the ground. Working together with local stakeholders, we mobilize the resources needed to provide useful, appropriate and lasting solutions.

Help us act now: every donation counts to transform lives.

By supporting Les Eaux Vives, you help fund concrete actions for food, health, education and access to water.

Whatever its amount, your donation strengthens our ability to act alongside our partners and the communities we support, in France and internationally.
